Just before His ascension into Heaven, the resurrected Jesus had some final words with His Apostles. After that…

And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

Acts 1:9-11

Don’t you love the simple logic of the angels here?

They point out that it does no good staring up at the sky, waiting for the day when Jesus will return. Just know that He will return, and in the meantime we should get to work preaching His Gospel.

Our King went up from human sight to Heaven; one day He will return from Heaven to be seen by every eye (Revelation 1:7). In the meantime, get to work! Help everyone be prepared for that blessed day to come!
