I know people are busy but if you are not attending in person or tuning in to Matthew’s Wednesday night classes you are really missing so much. You would be so blessed if you would make it a priority to benefit from the studies as he attempts to answer questions that have been submitted by our own people. It’s a blessing to listen and study along side him.
Last Wednesday Matthew had a question he addressed about the Holy Spirit and specifically the “gift of the Holy Spirit. This lesson and study got me to thinking and meditating on the work of the Holy Spirit today in the lives of Christians. So I studied and meditated and began to jot down all the blessings we have from the Holy Spirit of God and it made me appreciate Him even more. It encouraged me and I want to pass the encouragement on to you.
The Holy Spirit Blesses us because He:
Indwells us: Romans 8:9-10 – However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
Seals us and pledges Himself for us: Ephesians 1:13-14 – In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of His glory.
Develops His fruit in us: Galatians 5:22-26 – But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. Let us not become boastful, challenging one another, envying one another.
Intercedes for us: Romans 8:26-27 – In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
All of these blessing are available ONLY to the one who has obeyed the gospel and become a Christian. All of these blessings should give us great confidence to trust the and appreciate the Holy Spirit even more.
Have a great weekend!
I love you,
Alex
