Kira’s grandmother has been in town visiting with us this week and we are so thankful. We always have such a wonderful time and love for our kids to have the opportunity to visit with their great-grandmother. Its a great opportunity to be together as a family.

Last night the elders, ministers, and staff gathered will all our families for a cookout and playing in the gym learning how to play pickleball. We all had such a wonderful time. It’s a great opportunity to be together as a family.

Is there a difference in blood family and church family? For me personally, not much. Blood unites us in both cases. I love my physical family and would do anything for them. I love my church family and would do anything for them. As a matter of fact, I feel just as close to some of my church family as I do my physical family and even then sometimes closer. What a great blessing.

Most moms and dads and husbands and wives see the value in spending time together. My prayer is that Christians will see the value in spending time together as a church family, too. These feelings of love we experience as Christians in a church family are included in the Christian virtues Peter mentions in 2 Peter 1: 5-7.

Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge, and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness, and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love.

As much as we should be working hard to grow in our faith, moral excellence, knowledge, self control, perseverance, and godliness, brotherly kindness should increase to the point of expressing love toward each other as the family of God.

I hope you see the value in family time.

God loves you and so do I,

Alexander Mills
