Ephesians 2:8 says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.

God’s grace is overwhelming. The grace of God is in fact so overwhelming I believe that we have yet to explore and discover just how amazing it truly is. It is one of the blessings and benefits of being a child of God that we truly struggle with understanding and the reality of it will not truly be understood until the full measure of God’s grace will come to fruition.

But let’s entertain it in our minds for just a moment. Notice these three things from this verse.

  1. Our salvation now and in the future depends on grace. God’s gift to us through Jesus Christ is an act of great love which brings about the grace by which we are saved.
  2. Grace and salvation is not something that we can give to ourselves. We certainly need to reach out and receive the gift. We certainly need to obey God’s commands inorder to qualify for it. But the gift is there waiting on us to take it as provided by God though this Son, Jesus. You did nothing to earn grace. There is not a right amount of work for you to do  for you to have grace available to you. The work has already been done. Just reach out and take it.
  3. Grace is unfathomable gift that bring about forgiveness, mercy, and an eternal sate of being a child of God that the enemy cannot defeat. God has provided it for you out of his love and it is wrapped up as a gift given through Jesus Christ. It’s the greatest gift ever given.

I hope you have received this gift. I hope you are doing what is necessary to obtain grace. Grace is not free Christ’s blood was spilled for grace to be made available to you and the only way to relieve it is obey God by touching Christ’s blood in the reenactment of His death where the blood was spilled. This is done when you are baptized into Christ’s death for the forgiveness of your sins. That is the act of obedience that you do in order to receive the gift of salvation by grace through faith.

I love you,

Alex
