Last night we opened our doors to members, friends, neighbors, and more. Over 400 people came for singing, puppet shows, crafts, games, snacks, and best of all: A study of God’s word. It is Vacation Bible School time, and though, outwardly, it looks like an indoor circus is going on, if you strip away the candy coating, what you find is good old-fashioned Bible study taking place. People of all ages, from the littlest to the oldest were here last night learning lessons from the Parables of our Master.
If you missed last night, you MISSED it, but tonight it starts again, and I hope you’ll be here for it. In the meantime, I hope you’ll join me in prayer over it…
I pray that people are reached with our VBS. I pray that strangers become neighbors, that neighbors become friends, and that friends become brethren as a result of what happens here this week. I pray that our little children end our VBS with their feet firmly planted on the foundation of the Bible. I pray that our teens are encouraged by their classes (we had fifty last night in the teen class), and are reminded that they can be faithful to God and still be normal young people at the same time. I pray that our adults are delighted by the fun and games, that they let their (proverbial) hair down a bit, and enjoy how happy the occasion is when brethren come together to celebrate, to fellowship, to study, and to learn.
VBS is here, and thank God for it!
