Last night began our Vacation Bible School, but there is much more to see and enjoy. I hope you’ll make it up the hill tonight for a study of “God, our Father.” In the adult class, our friend Steve Smith from Harrison Street will be teaching us. Don’t miss it. His lesson will be taken from Genesis chapters 2-3, which is usually a text we go to in order to discuss the fall of humanity. Obviously, we do that with good reason, but I’m interested to hear how Steve will pull from this infamous account a study of how sin shattered our relationship with God…

And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.  And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

(Genesis 2:7-8)

The Lord made us in His image, called us His children, placed us in a garden so serene and so perfect it could only be called “paradise.” Then… He watched as we defied His commands and sided with pleasure over fellowship. We did that, but that is not the end of our story. Fittingly, that moment occurs on page 3 of our Bibles; the beginning, not the end. There are another thousand pages that follow, chronicling God’s work to redeem us back from Satan’s possession, through the offering of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Aren’t you thankful? Don’t you want to bask in that salvation? VBS is here for you!

See you tonight!
