A common tradition for many families at Thanksgiving is to go around and say what everyone is thankful for. For most families you’ll get a lot of the same answers: family, health, a good home, etc. And those are absolutely great things that we should be thankful for. But remember that Jesus said that unless we become like little children, we will not enter the kingdom of Heaven (Matt 18:3). And when little children say the prayer at dinner, you better have an extra five minutes so that they can thank God for every plate of food, every napkin on the table, every button on their shirt, and EVERYTHING in between.

This holiday of thankfulness, let’s be thankful for friends, family, our homes, and our food, but remember that EVERY good and perfect gift comes from above (James 1:17). So take some time and be thankful for everything right down to the fork that is allowing you to enjoy God’s bountiful provision.

Happy Thanksgiving
