There’s always a nut.

Some crackpot, every year, claims that he’s unlocked some secret code and that “the world will end at midnight as we ring in the new year!” Last year there were nuts saying the world would end at the beginning of 2019. This year there were nuts claiming the world will end in 2020.  And on it goes. Every year someone looks at a clock, points and shouts “at midnight tonight!” and my response is always the same…

“In which time zone?”

Why is God beholden to the central time zone? Why not Greenwich Mean Time? I mean, unless God is planning on doing this in waves, I don’t think He’s planning these things around our perception of time. In fact I know He’s not…

But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
(2 Peter 3:8)

Tomorrow is New Year’s Eve, but by the time you get up in the morning it will be New Years Day in New Zealand and all those who claimed the world would end before the new year will look foolish.

I wouldn’t put too much stock in the predictions of men. That being said, the Lord is promised to return (Acts 1:11). It may not be tomorrow at the stroke of midnight…but then again it may be. I don’t know. You don’t know.

Just be ready.
