Last Sunday for worship we had great attendance (475+ on Sunday Morning). We had several families that were here visiting, some from out of town some from right here in town. We want to encourage people to come back and worship with us more. Be a part of who we are striving to be.
After services, I received several calls, texts, and personal comments saying how wonderful the entire service was. It was not the preaching, it was not the singing, it was not the words spoken in prayers. Those were all things that were directed to God to give Him honor and praise. Your encouragement is a by-product of our worship of God. We are there to worship God and when we are encouraged it is because the attitude in which we worship is one of humility and dedication to the Almighty God.
However, when we worship I cannot help walking out of our assembly with encouragement and an overall feeling of inspiration. Here are a couple of things I feel every Sunday we come together here at North Heights.
- God’s Presence – We cannot produce a spiritual experience with physical things. Remember, God is spirit, and those who “worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth” (John 4:24). The biggest obstacle in Christianity today is that many people are seeking God with the assistance of what they experience physically during worship. They try hearing the right music and seeing the right things. If the music is entertaining or the lighting is right or the graphics on the screen are appealing then it must have been a good experience of worship. But worship is more than that. Worship is to be spiritual, not physical. When I worship with North Heights I can feel God’s presence in the attitude of humility that I try to approach God with and the attitude of humility that others put on display. It’s more than just what I hear or what I see.
- A Feeling of Belonging – We belong together and we need each other. When we come together for worship we stir each other up and motivate each other to do good things (Hebrews 10:25). When we worship I feel like this is the best place on planet earth I can be. No beach, no lake, no campground, no couch, no garden, no hotel, no other place is better than being with my church family because it is the place I belong as we worship together.
Come worship with us at North Heights. Be with us and when worship is over start thinking about what you just experienced and see if you feel the same emotions I do.
I love you,
~ Alex
