Have you read this before?
“Enjoy life with the woman whom you love all the days of your fleeting life which He has given to you under the sun; for this is your reward in life and in your toil in which you have labored under the sun” (Ecclesiastes 9:9).
Maybe its a new one for you. The wise King Solomon wrote this down as a advise for all husbands and wives to take heed. The advise is sound and when acted upon there are huge blessing as a result. It emphasizes the importance of spending quality time together with joy and happiness even in the middle of difficult times. When you take the time to take the time it strengthens the bond between a husband and wife. Kira and I think this is smart and a married couple would be wise to make it a priority in their relationship.
Life is busy and all kinds of other things get in the way of the things that really matter. When you get to the end of your life I guarantee you will not be wishing you would have spent more time working or doing anything else or being with anyone else than what and who really matters. Your time is precious and it would be wise to spend quality time on those things that matter the most. Spend quality time with God and build your relationship with Him. Spend quality time with your family and friends. Spend quality time with your church. But for heaven’s sake, please spend quality time with your spouse. You will probably have a better relationship with God if you do because if priorities are what they should be then your spouse is helping you in that regard. You will probably have a better relationship with your family, friends, and church if you do because if priorities are what they should be then your spouse is helping you build a family life, friendships, and church life that reflects appropriately for each one.
The intentional time that you spend together creates a healthy, loving relationship with not only your spouse but with all other relationships you have. Cultivate your relationship and spend quality time together because it’s a wise thing to do according to Solomon.
