My kids are probably the only ones that ask that question, right? No!

I know it is tempting to just answer the question with a “Because I said so.” But sometimes the question is valid. This is how kids learn. They need to see the reason we are doing this or that. They need to understand why something is the way it is. Don’t we all?

This is how we all learn about the world around us and the life God expects from us. Of course, we obey God because He says to obey Him, but there is nothing wrong with asking why to help see and learn the reason for our obedience.

Have you ever wondered why God wants us to obey him? Does it benefit God for us to be obedient to Him and for our faithfulness to be on display? I think so. We want to please God, right? So we need to avoid sin and sacrifice our service to give God the respect He deserves. Why? Because it pleases Him and demonstrates the core character of who God is. John says, “We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.” (1 John 4:16). John explains we can know and have faith in the Love God has for us. Love is the reason why.

Why did God create us? LOVE!

Why did God give us beauty in His creation for us to enjoy? LOVE!

Why did God send His only Son on earth? LOVE!

Why did God allow Jesus to take on the sins of the world for all time? LOVE!

Why did God raise Jesus up from the grave? LOVE!

Why did God communicate what He expects from us through His inspired Word? LOVE!

Why did God provide a plan of salvation to redeem us? LOVE!

Why? Why? Why? LOVE LOVE LOVE!
