FAMILY
We are a family. We love hanging out and playing games together. We laugh a lot. We study the Word of God together. We support and encourage each other when someone is feeling down, or hurt, or having a hard time. We are here to help each other remain faithful to Christ. “Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds” (Heb 10:24). We aren’t going to sit around and hope that we start doing better; we’re going to spur one another to being the image of Christ.
ACTIVE
The North Heights Youth Group is super active. We always have something going on. In addition to Sunday morning and Wednesday night Bible class, we go to youth rallies, camps, game nights, mission trips, service projects, devo nights, and more. A lot more. Like, our calendar looks scary sometimes because we have a lot going. And we want you to come be a part of it!
SAFE
This is a safe place physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Every effort is made to provide supervision and security during all of our classes and activities. Youths are welcome and encouraged to share things with the adult youth leaders or the whole group knowing that we are here to take everyone and their situation seriously and without judgment. Ephesians 4:29 tells us “Let no unwholesome talk come out of your mouths but only what is good for building others up according to their needs that it may benefit those who listen.” We will always build each other up.
INTEGRAL
The NHYG is an important part of the North Heights COC family. Our teens perform necessary leadership roles in our congregation. As well as going on mission trips and service projects, our young men and women help fulfill import needs on a week-to-week basis. The young men assist with Communion, read scriptures, lead prayers and songs, and give devotionals in front of the congregation. The young ladies help with the children’s Bible classes and lead prayers, songs, and devotionals during the Girls Devo Nights. We rely on our youths to take an important role in our congregation.
